Good evening y'all!...I'm sitting here debating on whether to start a new project; which is another dilemma because I want a new bag and dress at the same damn time....It'll probably be a bag; I did have that idea first.....I want a new dress too.....I've been on the lookout for some Ankara and mud cloth pieces too but I haven't found any of those yet either...If I had some of that I'd be making a skirt for sure....I'm already rambling huh? LOLOL! I got a lotta sewing ideas swirling and they don't stop for nothing...so I decided to write about it!
I've been making quite a bit of cold weather stuff lately but I haven't had time to talk about 'em just yet...In the last few weeks I've made a cape, and blazer, two cardigans (that my daughter claimed as her own), and the coat I'mma show yall in a few....all whipped up out of awesome pieces I snagged at my favorite Hancock's Fabrics.....
The coat is a cute little McCall's pattern ~ #M7256 I bought on sale a little while ago....I made View A; I left the sleeve flounce off because I didn't really like it...I even cut it out and pinned in on because I sometimes change my mind about liking a feature but nahhhh not this time....I thought about lengthening the sleeves but I decided to leave them the length they were without the flounce...I had my cute bracelets in mind when I made up my mind about the quarter sleeves....I'll model it soon with my arm candy (wink:wink)....
I made my new coat out of some pretty, lightweight tweed I had in my stash for a while...the tweed is a pretty light green.....the sleeves are denim...kinda wanted some contrast this go 'round....I also lined my new coat with some Periwinkle-colored linen I had definitely been hoarding...that linen made for a warm and comfy lining too...its a medium weight instead of the thinner, see-through ones....the tweed has lots of specks of colors and Periwinkle was one of 'em...the linen I used matched perfectly...I like when that happens!....the pictures don't at all do the coat's colors justice...I showed out with this one...although I believe I'll be making a one or two more adjustments to it....
The pattern was surprisingly easy to sew because coats can be tricky sometimes....I like working with the fabrics too; they weren't too unravel-y or slippery....and the pattern envelope didn't even say "easy"....I often wonder do they mislabel the patterns sometimes....I swear every time one says easy its everything but....but when you think a pattern may be a challenge it turns out to be cool breeze....(shrugs shoulders)....Sewing's like that sometimes.....Here's a few pictures of the coat...When I wear it I'll share it again....maybe the colors will pop in the natural sunlight....talk to you good folks soon!
Well hello everybody!...I figured I had better say something before the end of the doggone year because its creeping up on us so quick!....I don't care for "holidays" for a variety of reasons I will not bore y'all with but all my folks know I'm usually the one not all that enthused....I do like how it makes others behave though; seems like folks are more polite and even smile more....I enjoy the slight change....I do like the New Year thing though...not all the partying and getting drunk as eva' but the fresh change I always feel when its January 1st.....I always feel so strong, energized, and ready for new, positive changes....
I swear I've been sewing sewwwww much (pun intended) but I haven't blogged or really taken any pictures....I keep telling myself over and over again that I'm going to start taking pictures every week....and blog more for that matter...New Year plans?...yeah buddy; I even got a new laptop!...This is my first post on it!....I wasn't in the market for one; my other one just started freaking out all of a sudden...although it isn't totally fried it was becoming a giant pain to deal with....Now would you look at me just rambling!...
well okay this post is about a couple makes I really liked sewing and wearing....Now you know I cant find the pattern number for the Kimono (I know its on my Instagram but I was too lazy to go find it when I started writing this; check it out over there? @MsKRS_stitches) but the dress is Butterick's Fast & Easy B6207 View B....I whipped it up out of some pretty, Wintry sweater knit I snagged on one of my trips to the thrift store....It has Silver sparkles in the fabric but of course I'm still using my old Cool Pix instead of sneaking and using my Huny's new camera....He has such a cool one I'm afraid to mess with it!...I'll just wait until he gives me the tutorial at least....I put elastic in the sleeves to keep 'em kinda snug on my arm too (the only alteration I made).....I didn't realize how sheer the fabric was so it all worked out when I decided to layer it with my Kimono....I felt like a ole' Jezebel with no panty hose on but I wore my Lolita coat over everything so I was plenty warm and covered up.....now I have no idea where the Kimono pattern is so I can share the number; which makes no sense because while I'm creatively messy I only keep my patterns in one spot....its hiding I guess...I whipped the Kimono up in a psychedelic printed knit fabric that had been hoarding for just the right project....that fabric came from Hancock's of course....the tunic length Kimono did not disappoint in any way; sewing nor wearing....I rediscovered my Gray boots which made me quite happy that day too....I didn't want to wear my Black ones; they just didn't "go" you know?...and Brown or Taupe wasn't gone' cut it either...but alas, I have Gray ones!....I bought 'em I know at least 4 years ago from Target....yassssssss to good finds!.....I feel like I have so much to say and post but that's what I get for taking so long in between posts....I'll be back soon I promise; my new laptop promotes more posts! LOL!....Pictures now!...and if I rambled and didn't share the info you needed out of this post just let me know! I 'll clarify as best I can! (smile)
Good afternoon all!...I'm doing all right today; I just finished a super cute dress so you know I'm happy as eva'....I've been in my sewing room all day tinkering around; I had to untangle everything in my haberdashery bag, find a couple of buttons, and I even put my zipper collection in a cool Charming Charlie bag I just couldn't throw away.....This dress has a lot of little details like hook & eye install and of course a long arse back zipper....I was going to use this cool Tangerine-colored old school zipper I have in my stash but it seemed like I could have used it better on something else...I had another Orange zipper in my stash though (because I'm a chronic notions shopper) so I just used that one....It worked out nicely too....
Now I've made almost all five of the views this pattern offers; if not I know I at least made four of them as of today....I love the sleeves so much but I didn't add my beloved collar though...I have this cool choker I just copped so I left the collar off this one to wear it when I wear my dress....I wonder if I can make it faux though......It can be done; the technique is in one of my Threads issues.....Imma try that and make View 6 for 'em! LOL!...I used a Orange checked fabric I have been hoarding for quite some time now; at least 3 years.....I couldn't cut it for some reason!....Nothing was worthy of it until I decided to revisit this pattern and this fabric instantly popped in my mind to use...I forget where I got it from but I believe I ordered it online from Hancock's Fabrics...that place is my FAVE....the fabric didn't fail either and it sewed up quite nicely...it was a breeze to work with.....This pattern has six darts that makes the fit so contour and awesome.!....It's got a slight stretch too so its quite comfy as well.....I have all the feels about this dress I swear.....
I added a decorative hem to it, well because my new machine has so many of them....it didn't photograph well though; maybe when I wear it I can get a good shot....I grabbed a new iron from Target (Shark brand) about a month or so ago too (if I didn't already tell y'all) and it made for some damn good pressing too...I used a bit of heavy starch as well...Pink Cookie is sitting purty wearing my new digs I tell you what (in my Hank Hill voice).....The pattern is from New Look Patterns and its one of the first ones I found when my MadMen obsession began....Its been in my stash for a while....I made View E this go 'round....I started it last night and I could have finished it too buuuuutttttt I had some wine and things got a little fuzzy hehehehehehe.....I'm waiting on some more Hot Patterns in the mail; four of them to be exact....I guess I'll go check the mail and start another project right?!?!...Pictures now ummkay....
Good evening good people and I hope all is well....This was a lazy Saturday for me which consisted of sleeping in, eating breakfast, taking a nap, then coming in my sewing room to mess around....I'm still debating on if I should start a new dress; I have some large print Gingham that I've been hoarding for at least two years....I feel my everlasting MadMen obsession taking over that fabric....it probably will....
Now this post is about my new found love of Hot Patterns and me sewing up one of 'em....My latest make is the Riviera Annisette Dress...the pattern also has a top view but y'all already know my love for dresses just would not allow me to make the top first....the pattern called for knits; which was right up my alley because I love me some knit fabric....I had couple knits in mind when I decided to make it too....a cool, kinda Fall-friendly knit fabric and another sheer printed knit made up my new dress and I just love it the best!.....I traced this pattern on my Swedish tracing paper so I could preserve my pattern because it has so many sizes....Why is it called "Swedish" though?..Does anyone know?...I'll find out one of these days.....anyway, I just wanted to keep 'em intact this go 'round....
When I got started I noticed that Hot Patterns doesn't have many instructions at all; which means it cant teach sewing or any sewing techniques you know?...actually it was just pattern pieces and information....these patterns are not for the newbies but I still recommend they grab at least one or two for their new found sewing obsession....they will WANT to understand these cool patterns because they're just that awesome....now I made mine with NO issues or unpicking whatsoever....Imma tell y'all I felt like everything when I finished this dress....I put sleeves, bands, yokes and some mo' together with my sewing brain....I surprised myself!...I believe I can finally say I'm a seamstress with a straight face.....I think I'm ready for a Marfy too....(even though I just made a disaster of a skirt right before this dress; and wore it any damn way LOL).....
The fabrics came from, you guess it Hancock's Fabrics....I had both in my stash for a little while.....This particular pattern isn't available anymore though; I'm lucky I got one of the last few left....they have many more cute arse ones though so no biggie....Go check em out when time permits at HotPatterns.com....they'll be hearing from me soon again too!...Okay pictures now....
Good afternoon everybody!...I hope all is well and you're all right today....I'm doing well too; can complain but I won't....I
got up earlier than I expected myself to (9am) because I told myself I would sleep all the way in....the sewing bug disagreed and so I am now the proud owner of a flow-y skirt....I believe I meant to make this skirt a while ago but I probably changed my mind...I remember wanting to but I believe I made a McCall's one instead....This skirt is courtesy of Simplicity again; they've been having some cool patterns lately (pattern number in the photos).....
I decided to make View B; which doesn't have a waistband but I cut one out anyway....I'll probably add it the next time I wear it because I already see myself styling it differently than I will today....and the lack of waistband on the view I chose didn't stop me from being confused because there were no instructions on how to sew the waistband onto my view.....I so have "derrrrr" moments sometimes....Well at least I don't have to cut it out and its already ready already...hahahahahaha
My skirt was whipped up using some 44 inch wide quilting cotton I scored from Tuesday Morning on one of my "I wont buy anything today; I'll just look trips".....I paid $20 bucks for 5 yards of it; but the tag said it was originally $55 bucks....I was going to work with my usual (knits) but I opted to work with some good ole' cotton today....sewed up quite well with no unpicking or other snags....it was a very quick sew too....The fabric looks kinda Ankara-ish which is why I chose it for this dress AND the reason I'm adding the waistband on the very next wear....I almost did it today but the way I'm wearing it wont show it off much so I can wait I suppose....
I'm still in the runnings for a new iron but I cant decide on if I want an Oliso, Rowenta, or something I saw called a "Low Boy".....I really don't have time for another contraption though; which made me kinda shy away from the whole "Low Boy" set up....However the Oliso was coooooolllll....the Rowenta kinda looked too big and bulky but I liked some of its features a lot....okay I'm rambling like I tend to do so I'll talk to you good folks later....Have y'all been sewing any makes lately?.....any suggestions on a new iron?....let me know!
Hey y'all hey! How's everybody!...I hope you're enjoying this here evening; I must say I'm all right 'cause I'm propped up in my sewing room....It's National Sewing Month and this is my first make....I swear my "real" job gets in my sewing way....Sometimes after work days I tell myself I'm going right to sleep when I get home (I get off at 4:30-5pm)...I just feel super tired from dealing with so many damn personalities all day; just mentally drained you know?....but that sewing bug bit a chunk out of me last night and I started sewing even though I was tired and had a pounding headache for going on three days...allergies along with this "rough" fire is NOT agreeing with me smh....

Now I just copped a few new patterns a couple days ago (Hancock's had a big sale; and its still going on....(I may or may not have to stop back by there before it's over *in my sneaky voice*)...The one I sewed up is Simplicity S0293; a Jiffy pattern that doesn't have a lot of pieces to fiddle with; I made View A....I used a printed knit I got on one of my trips to the thrift store....I got about 2 1/2 yards for like 4 bucks....I just love those places, always have....I only wish I could share all this stuff with my Bigmama now....She used to take me over there quite a bit; my eldest aunt on my Mama's side of the fam' did too...Good times I tell you what (in my Hank Hill voice).....The fabric is a medium weight, printed knit that was a dream to work with....the print reminded me of Q-Bert!..I never could play that game; always jumped over the side and died! LOLOL...but anyway I must say again how much I love sewing with knits!....I'm glad I didn't find out folks were supposed to fear them until I already loved working with 'em....My stash boasts plenty cool ones too....the pattern called for Batiks, Crepe, Sateen, and the like but since I used a knit I eliminated the zipper and the hook & eye (although I still kinda wanted to add one of my OG vintage zippers) ....I don't usually add such hardware on my knits although this one could have definitely handled some......

One of my Insta sewing friends told me to "beware of the deep V" in the front but that's right why I bought it!....It so channels my MadMen obsession too (yeah, that's still happening)....

that's all I saw was the ladies of my show and my Aunties "back in the day"....I probably could pull out a picture of them in the poses of the ladies on the envelope right now!....they used to be sooooo fly and beautiful with thee most perfect Afros.....This pattern screamed nostalgia and I heard it loud and clear....Matter of fact, that particular pattern wasn't even included in the sale Hancock's was having (I usually wait until the patterns are $2); I paid $11 for it; I didn't want to wait until the sale so home it came!....(it was actually 40% the regular price; which is around $20)

It sewed up pretty quick; don't know how long it took me though...I finished it last night with only the hem left today...I hemmed it up when I got home and gave it another pressing....I believe I need a new iron now too....the one I have has served its purpose and I'll be forever grateful; however it must go! LOL....My lil' lemon-lime colored Black and Decker will more than likely be gifted to my niece; along with some other things....(She's so awesome; she HAND SEWS and her Aunt does so NOT hahaha)...

Okay y'all I know I rambling so I'll share the flicks now....

Talk to you good people soon!

Good evening!...I'm sitting here relaxing, watching Seinfeld cracking up!...I swear the stuff they do and say is a mess!...I love the episode when someone talked Jerry into wearing a frilly "pirate" shirt; he was so embarrassed!...the reason why he was talked into it is because the person he was talking to was a "low talker".....he couldn't hear her so he just agreed to the shirt without knowing!...friggin' hilarious!
Now this post is about a dress I finished today; Butterick's Fast & Easy Fashion Express 1 Hour Pattern B5211....When I sewed this pattern before I made View B....this go 'round I made View C....When I first saw the views I didn't care for View C at all and I especially didn't like the sleeves....but let me tell you the sleeves are what I like most about my new dress....Sewing is funny like that sometimes....Like I can have a fabric that I think is just hideous...then one day I'll be looking for that fabric and I always seem to turn it into something nice....Sewing perk/quirk #515 amiright?....
I used a printed knit I snagged on one of my thrifting trips...its an "old lady" fabric which made me want it more...the print kinda looks like buttons!...the sewing perks/quirks just keep on happening!....I eliminated the pockets for no reason except that I felt the dress didn't need them....I was going to eliminate the facings too until I found thee cutest coordinating scrap in my stash; so I went ahead and added them....it gave the dress a sort of coolness around the collar area because I used a smooth cotton....the facings were going to be eliminated too because its just so hot around here ~ if I would have used the same fabric I used for the dress I know it would have felt like I had on some kind of scarf! oh hell NO.....not when its already an oven outside....just NO....but it worked out like always....
I did most of the work last night with only the hemming left this afternoon....I'm getting good at this patience thing with my knits....maybe because I seem to sew with them quite often nowadays....I have a considerable amount of knits in my stash; and thinking of getting more from GirlCharlee in the very near future....I've never bought any fabric from them; but I have definitely been stalking them lately....I'll probably do the Sew Indie thing too so Hot Patterns will hear from me soon I know....Lolita Patterns has an entire spread of patterns to use for the challenge; now that's awesome!....Maybe I'll cop something from both of 'em!...
Well I guess I'll share my pictures now....I didnt take too many this time because I was kinda in a rush; on my way to a babyshower.....I'm getting kinda tired too....the sun has zapped a bunch of my energy...I'm trying to refuel with a bottled water but it's not helping much....I might just nap for a minute....then I'll be up the rest of the night in my sewing room....not that that would be a bad thing....
Who's been making stuff?....Share your makes with me!....talk to you good people later....
Afternoon everybody!...Hope all is well and the work week is swiftly progressing....I've been sewing a lot; but writing blog posts ehhhhh, not so much...but for this one I decided to share sooner than I was planning on...I'm skipping ahead again because this is the latest thing I've whipped up but certainly not the just the recent.....y'all know my makes will come back around though, they always do....I do have Instagram, and I share much more there than here, or anywhere for that matter....no particular reason except that its much easier to share because I use my phone....Look me up there if time permits for more of my sewing stuff!.....
Now this is another McCall's caller, in the form of a skirt....this is my second time making this pattern this week, the first one I made was View A (can be found on Instagram because I didn't photograph it with my camera; only my phone)....I seem to to be going in a row with this pattern because today I finished View B....for both skirts I used somewhat heavier knits so I'll still be able to wear them in the cooler months!...sewing works out like that sometimes because Lawd knows I didn't have that in mind when I whipped 'em up!...
I made them both from McCall's MP428 and I have three more views left...they're on the maxi skirt side so I may or may not get around to whipping those up anytime soon....on the other hand you can never have too many maxi skirts...and I so love the next one in line (View C); it is super cute although I kinda did that one free hand sometime last year I believe....Oh well, now I have a pattern to use and I wont have to wing it! See, sewing working out again....
My latest skirt is made from a super cute, quilt-y, more dense knit I got from where?...You guessed it: Hancock's Fabrics!...I LOVE THAT PLACE, and the fabric was already in my stash...okay I know y'all already know that so I can stop getting side tracked now right?...its just so easy for me!...LOL!...my new skirt only used one pattern piece; which I already had handy....I traced out two pattern pieces for the first skirt I made so that made the process even faster; View B used one of those pieces....I cut the size 14....I tried it on and I like the way it fits!....(I didn't feel like any alterations anyway).....Belle (my Blue dress form) modeled this one.....I guess she really didn't care for the first one I made because she didn't wear it well IMO...the Black one works for her I guess because it looked much better on her.....Pink Cookie was a bit too skinny this go 'round and couldn't fill it out....
I let it hang overnight because the fabric is kinda heavy and finished it off earlier today by serging all the raw edges....I didn't want to try and hem it because the quilt-y hearts are just too thick....I didn't feel like breaking 15 needles....and it turned out just awesome....I don't mind the serged edges because their so neat but I hemmed the first one though....I need to do more with my serger; I heard it can do some mean gathering and shirring....well, I'm getting off subject again so I'll share the photos now of my girl Belle looking good....
Does anyone else have Instagram?...share your handles! (mine is @MSKRS_STITCHES)
Good evening everybody!...I'm still up watching Modern Family and trying to figure out if I'm going to sew up something else before I go to bed.....a mini marathon comes on every Friday and I always try to tune in....those folks crack me up!....
I've been sewing a bit today; I made one of my little cousins a super pretty little Minnie Mouse halter top...I hope she can fit it; I just googled the size she wears (a 5-6 in little girls) and came up with the measurements....when I finished it I put it in a gift bag along with another little gift from me and didn't take naan picture! LOL!...Hopefully my cousin will take some pictures of her Babygirl and send them to me...if she does I will definitely share....(if my cousin doesn't mind)
Now this post is about what I just finished sewing for myself....I had been coveting a kimono cause I've seen them styled so damned pretty this season....I wanted in on some of the hotness so I had been keeping my eye out for a kimono pattern....Wouldn't you know that on my most recent trip to my favorite store (Hancock's Fabrics) I spotted New Look pattern #S0805....it has four views; two waist length and floor length....they're all so pretty and have ideas for all of em.....I whipped up View A, mainly because of the cool length and its sleeveless....Its still beyond hot around here so sleeves with the fabric I used wouldn't have fared well IMO....
I used an super pretty, floral print knit fabric I had in my stash....by now everybody should know where it came from! (smile)....it says *easy on the envelope and it actually was....I've been picking some good patterns lately in terms of how many pattern pieces I have to work with, the instructions, and ease of sewing...this one was "all that" because it sewed up nice; and has very good lines you know?....I feel like making more of these.....The view I made only had two pattern pieces!....You know that's my kinda pattern all day!....I altered the pattern juuuussstttt a little bit like I always do....I knew when I read the pattern instructions I was NOT going to add the bias tape....I just didn't think it would look good with the print like at all so I serged all the raw edges....and I was right, it looks much, much better and it doesn't clash with the pretty flowers....maybe next time I'll use a more plain fabric and it'll warrant some good ole' bias tape....after all I have plenty and I wouldn't mind another chance to use some of that vintage-y goodness....
Okay I'll share the pictures now 'cause I have laundry...the never-ending chore.....I'll talk to you good folks soon!...anybody whipped up anything they've had their eye on lately?...let me see! :)
Good evening y'all good people!...I'm sitting here watching Unsung; its about one of my favorite duos Kid and Play....they had they're ups and downs like everybody else I suppose but they are still best friends....IMO, that's all that counts....of course I'm sitting in my sewing room staring at all my fabric and always wondering what I'll whip up next...
This evening I wanted the instant gratification thing...I kept thinking and thinking and came up with the idea of finally making myself a hair bonnet...I may as well you know because every time I see one in the stores I swear up and down I'll make one...tonight I hooked one up......I don't know if I've ever shared but my hair has been chemical free for quite some time now which means it requires a little extra protection; such as a super comfy silk hair bonnet...all Natties (natural hair gals) know protecting our hair while sleeping is a must but the protection cannot be too tight or cumbersome to wear...my new hair bonnet is just right for that...matter fact I'm sitting here writing this post with it on right now because my hair has conditioner on it; today was wash day....I can already tell my hair is loving its new addition...
I free styled it; the aspect isn't that difficult to understand....I measured the elastic piece around my head, snipped it off and added it to my circles.....In my mind I envisioned having two circles to work with but the way I cut my damn pieces I ended up with four halves....Smh okay, okay no big deal 'cause I just connected the pieces to make the circles I needed to begin with....then I sewed up those circles and added the elastic opening....sewed the elastic together and closed the whole I used to flip my bonnet over....I kinda wanna make a few more because I have a few styles in mind....for instance if someone has longer hair the back of the bonnet will hang a bit longer you know?...and of course the fabric came from my spot.....(Hancock's Fabrics)...been in my stash for a good minute now...
My babygirl just put Golden Girls on for me (she knows me so well) and I kinda wanna make another one...I needed to had already gone to Sally's to get that mannequin head too so could take better pictures but I guess my own head will have to do for now....I may go grab one tomorrow; they're only maybe $8-$10....I priced them already and I actually didn't know they would just be at Sally's...sometimes the universe is on your side....okay, I'm rambling like always so I'll share my pictures now...I'm tired too, which may be a little evident in the pictures...forgive me, its my birthday month so I've been just up with the chickens while waiting on the stars.....talk to you good folks soon...
Good late evening everybody!...Yeah, I'm still up and messing around in my sewing room....I've been spending a lot, a lot of time in there lately....it keeps my mind off of what I've gone through and the pain of it all.....and you know what?...pain really does produce some good sh*t....I mean you're all in your feelings and somehow out of the pain something cool comes from it...its weird but true....not to say that you have to be jacked up to get good results but since this is life and all it may be a healthy way to look at the inevitable amiright?...

Around this time last night I was working on a new cross-body bag but I got bored and left off at the clasp and straps....I'll finish it soon though, I know I will.....I've been making so many little things lately too...I made my first pairs of undies the yesterday.... I made my daughter a pair and myself two out of some some laces I had in my stash....I felt a little weird about posting them though so I just opted to share that they came out pretty cute!!!!....I also made 8 hand towels; 4 for my GRANDdaughter and 4 for us.....super easy, instant gratification projects you know?...

Now this post is about my abundance of creativity which is always swirling around in my brain....

Y'all know I'm a lightweight designer right? (smile)...from time to time I like to just wing it without the tediousness of a too-many piece pattern...I had a outfit in mind that I wanted to make come alive and tonight I guess was the night...I started out trying to drape the knit I used into a top....the colors made me think of my stash.....I had these two funky fabrics I bought at least two years ago at Hancock's; online though....so I didn't get to see how they were but when they got here I remember looking at them for quite a while desperately trying to think of something, anything I would or could make with them.....well, I couldn't think of one damn thing so I neatly folded them up and added them to my stash.....until tonight....of course I had a pattern that fit the bill which I just got about maybe two or three weeks ago...I had the outfit in mind then when I grabbed it...

that pattern is Simplicity's S0432 View E, and it was only one pattern piece too!...I used it for the base of my project.....Whodathunkit?!...that's always a plus....I was originally going to whip up View C....

The fabric I used will speak for itself in terms of me not having a clue what it would become....its sheer as they come, has shiny hairs in stripes on it, and its Sunny yellow...I also have had the printed knit for quite some time too...I got a new shelf for my fabric last night and rediscovered it....it was a remnant that I thought was so cute; cost me a dollar I believe....Well, I'm rambling now like always because I like to talk hunty! LOLOLOL...any idea sewing been going on?...did you use a pattern or wing it like I did?...show me!

Good afternoon everybody!...I've been toiling away in my sewing room lately; right on through the pain...I find that my sewing is good therapy....lets me move around just enough not to over-do it but just enough to get me going so I don't "stove up"....My Bigmama and other more mature relatives used to say that when it was hard for them to move; like if their body was sore....I'm getting better each day though....
I've made a bag set (super duper awesome bag set; I'll feature it soon), and a Red linen dress....but its quite plain so I wont debut that one until I wear it...it NEEDS accessories....
But my most recent make, my dress is pretty, print-y, and wild!....my kinda way you know?....I just grabbed this fabric the other day at my favorite place (Hancock's Fabrics) and its already a dress!...I hardly ever do that; I just mostly buy fabric for my stash....When I get ready to sew something I just take to my stash and choose from there....Chances are if I buy and use fabric right away its because I ran out mid-project and had no choice....but this go 'round there was no stash time for this piece....
I went thrifting the other day (the postop pain cut my visit quite short but it was worth it) and grabbed a few old school patterns....one of them was a "Quick" Butterick pattern by the number of 6314....I made View A and cut the largest size; the 10....I can only imagine that a sewing woman must have felt good about herself back in the day cause I do NOT wear a 10 in anything in real life..that's a small number in terms of clothing these days.....I chose View A; it only used 4 of the 5 pattern pieces to be sprung to life....the fifth piece is a ruffle used to whip up View B....I'll fix up one of those when the mood strikes....
I learned a new technique with this pattern...it called a "stay"....the pattern called for two; one for the front and one for the back both centered....How I describe it is like its a more reinforced stay stitch....the fabric anchored the gathers very well although I probably should've used a cotton instead of the same knit as my dress....it worked out though and I got the point....I may add them to other dresses because the technique is awesome!.....
Since I used yet another cool knit I calmed my anxiety of not being able to wait for anything and let it hang overnight to make sure the hem would be even....that's one of the few sewing rules I do follow as I don't really follow many.....I'm more of freestyle kinda gal you know?....I follow patterns but I usually end up doing things my own way....My arm and neck hole bindings could have been better though....I unpicked them three times; the left one twice and the right one once....it still ended up looking shi*ty IMO but I left it after all that....I was NOT about to get irritated with my super cool new dress....not at all, not today....
There's a special place in my soul for the old school patterns....They remind me of my self; straight forward while being clear and simple allowing super cool results!....This one is from the 80's, not sure of the exact year.....Well let me quit all this rambling and show off my new dress!....Who else has been burning the midnight oil sewing up stuff?....By all means show me! LOL
Well a might fine hello to all of you good people this evening!...I'm lucky to be making this post and still being able to create cool stuff with my machines!...
If you've been keeping up you know I've been having mad problems with my "monthly" and the only long term solution was surgery....Well I just had that surgery this past Tuesday and the entire experience was HORRIBLE....I bled out and almost passed away during surgery, then I get discharged and passed out from the lack of blood and have to go immediately back to the ER within 15 minutes of arriving home!....I didn't even get to go inside!....&*&^%$#@!#$%%^^!!!!!...then of course another damn transfusion with an iffy cat scan that may or may not have seen something else post surgery....I finally get home and the pain is insufferable....it took me all the way back; 20 years ago when I had my first surgery = a Cesarean section to deliver my daughter....the pressure and pain is horrendous....but I survived and I'm grateful.....(wipes forehead)....I still have pain and pressure but for the most part I'm coming on back to myself.....I even had enough energy to finish a little shrug I started the day before my surgery...I kinda wanted to have worked on something if I was to "go into the light".....
I started Butterick's Fast & Easy B5928 View A....I wanted to lengthen the pattern in the back but I wasn't quite sure how I would do it and my focus wasn't all that great that day either with the upcoming near death experience looming over my damn head....so I set out to just be in my sewing room messing with my stuff....Usually with the "very easy" or "easy" monikers its everything but; however this pattern told the truth about that....it only had 4 pattern pieces which you know is my kinda pattern; and only 5 if you wanted to add sleeves....the pattern called for fabrics like Crepe, wool blends, and Gabardine but I used a polka dot knit fabric from my stash....and you know it came from Hancock's Fabrics; my effin' FAVE....
I altered it a bit too....I didn't include the pleats because the fabric already has this super cool texture that's wrinkly and pleat-y already....and I did NOT line it either....its just plain old too hot around here.....this weekend our temps hit 108 degrees!....so there was a lot of serging I had to do to finish the raw edges...I love the way it turned out and I'm going to make another knit one and attempt to lengthen it too....My Babygirl has a pretty shrug that she bought ready to wear....maybe I'll do that to give myself a reason to use my super awesome Swedish tracing paper! Yeah baby! (in my Austin Powers voice).....Pictures now 'cause I gotta rest for the evening....even though I feel like I want to start something else....but I don't want to over-do it you know?....Until I gain more strength then,
Hiya everybody!...I was trying to blog a little earlier but the power was out...it never fails though; when the temperatures rise over the 100 degree mark our power company has work to do restoring overworked, parched power lines...the power just kicked in a few minutes ago and I'm glad...it was quite stuffy in here with the outside temps at 108 degrees!!!!!
Anyway this post features a romper I made way last year when the "cold" started to come back...I made it towards the end of September....I had only worn it once and of course I was in one of those famous moods of mine and didn't feel like taking not one picture; so I didn't....but this past weekend I didn't mind it so much so I snapped a few....
I made McCall's 6083 again; this time View A....Now I've made this pattern a few times before with issues every other time with the pockets....when I made this one the pocket fairies were on my side because I didn't have to get Clover (my seam ripper; its the brand name but it fits)......I also lengthened the pattern because it was kinda two short for my taste nowadays....I added two inches and hemmed it with the regular 5/8 hem....I knew I had to have some of that fabric too...its like tie-dye, see-through lace, a buncha colors; it was just me all the way....and something told me I should make a super comfy romper with my trusty McCall's pattern....I have another romper/jumpsuit pattern but I haven't used it yet....Soon though I will....and I'm on the lookout for Simplicity's New Look pattern #6373....I need that.....
Well I guess I'll share and share with me too...who made something cute as eva' lately?...or last year like me lol?....Direct me to the makes!
Good morning to all my peeps although its almost over....I'm sitting here still basically trying to come back to life after my first visit to the hospital since I had my daughter 20 friggin' years ago!...Yep you heard it right, I had to be taken to the hospital in a damn ambulance Wednesday around this time....Let me explain....I have extremely heavy menstrual cycles and they have since become very bothersome....I lost so much blood this go 'round that I had to have a couple blood transfusions!!!!!....I was very weak and passing out; got a couple bruises and scared my family pretty good too...but I'm coming back slowly but surely....I almost feel like my old self again....I was in the hospital so long that I unhooked myself from all the gadgets and came home without them giving me a final check on my hemoglobin (which was a 6 when I was brought in and its supposed to be a 12 or more) but I knew I was on the way to feeling better because I didn't feel anything like I felt when I was wheeled in....I'll keep you posted as I go through the remainder of fixing the issue....
Anyways, I really wanted to show y'all my new dress....its McCall's Fashion Star pattern #M6790....it called for rayon fabric and the like but I used 100% cotton because I wanted to be able to wear it in cooler weather too....It took quite a bit of yardage too; almost 5 yards....I ran out of fabric although I could have sworn I had enough to begin with....I thought I had cut out all of the pieces until I started sewing it....I went to Hancock's and found the exact weave for the paisley fabric, which I got from Fabric Mart...I checked them first (Fabric Mart) for more of the same but they were out.....so I just finished it in a solid Black....I LOVE the end result; sewing is just awesome like that....
I cut the size 16 although I could have cut the 14 and it would have fit a little more snug....I though the cuffs were going to give me fits too but they were cool....I learned what a "roll line" was although I had already folded the fabric that way before I knew I had to...My Vogue Sewing book explained it thoroughly....
Well I just took my iron pill and am going to throw on some clothes for a afternoon BBQ with some of my friends....Piccies now and I promise to take better care of myself....I really didn't enjoy that hospital debacle....I really did NOT.....
Good evening folks!...again I miss the entire boat for the MeMade thingy this year; although I wear my work every day.....I just don't have time to take the pictures!...*damn*...oh well, maybe next year...Anyway, 'tis post is about a dress that I thought I wasn't going to be able to whip up...its so warm and/or hot here like all the time so I didn't think I'd get to use the fabric until the "cold" comes back....reason being the dress I did get make afterall is sewn up with sweater knit....it finally rained pretty good around here so I hurried up and made one; although it was still on the warmer side.....I have a few sweater knits in my stash but I wanted to sew with the Black knit for some reason (its so super soft maybe?).....
Pattern came from my stash; Simplicity #8479 One Hour dress pattern....I got this pattern on one of my thrifting trips....I made view 2, size small....folks must have been a little more thick back in the day because I ain't been a "small" in quite some time!
(laughing a little bit through my pain;<~~~I'll explain later)....
I believe I'll be using this fabric again to make a pencil skirt too...I have enough left but next go 'round I'll be reversing the fabric....I loves me a two-sided fabric....Got a few ideas swirling about a two-textured fitted dress too....I found the fabric at my local Hancock's of course....it was kinda "unravel-y" but it was a breeze to work with....
Sewing bags is my first love for those that don't know.....this time I decided to show one off although all my bags and wallets are made by me.....the one I'm holding I self-drafted....Super easy to make and embellish.....I LOVE BAGS AND SHOES like seriously and I felt all right being able to just be myself with my stuff.....Sewing is tight like that.....pretty awesome I tell you what! (in my Hank Hill voice; I'm watching 'em right now).....My friends kept trying to take my stuff outta my bag and replace it with theirs...Maybe one day I'll go on a sewing spree and make 'em all one....Okay pictures now.....
How's everybody on this lovely Sunday evening?...I'm all right; just sitting here watching the tube and relaxing until I its time to go make a little change tomorrow....I've of course been sewing but pictures?...those are still on the "meh, might do" list....I just have not wanted to take any photos for some reason....oh well; today I felt a little different so I snapped a few...well my Babygirl did....I meant to participate in MeMade2015 but it felt so needless because every time I get a chance to get out of that uniform it must be something I made to get dressed in....I wear MeMade to bed, under my clothes for work, and when I get dressed period....so I guess I opted out well because I'm always in....I've sewn so many garments that I can always wear something that is ALL ME.....Today was no different....its been pretty warm around these parts so of course I'm reaching for cool, comfortable, and light....
McCall's M6083 to the rescue...now I've whipped this up twice before; one in a suiting fabric and the other in tablecloth fabric!...(check the blog for the posts).....but this go 'round its a lightweight printed knit, printed with green pineapples!!!!!....its been on my sewing table cut out for a minute but I finished it the day before yesterday (this past Friday)...I had the fabric in my stash but y'all know it came from Hancock's Fabrics...the fabric is so light it feels like pajamas...I always like when it works out like that....I was going to pair it with some Kelly green platform heels but decided to break the monotony and add a couple pops of red....Oh and the view is C with the sash just freestyled with the leftover fabric.....and I omitted the pockets....my serger was the star with this outfit too; well besides the fabric....At this point I'm having an allergy attack because I went to my girlfriend's house this afternoon to hang out and we were sitting outside....I guess I'll never learn; even though I took my daily allergy pill....they never work well enough but I guess something is better than nothing right?....Well pictures now while I kick back and get ready to start a new week....What y'all been sewing? Anybody taken the MeMade2015 pledge?....direct me to your makes! (smiles)
First off let me apologize for being a horrible blogger; I've just had no time....and being moody as fack doesn't help either...I've been sewing like always but have not taken any photos with the exception for today....I always laugh at myself because when I don't want to take pictures it most definitely shows in them....I wasn't all that enthused about taking any today either but I forced myself so could show something and touch bases with my peeps...

Now I may or may not have shown this tank on Pink Cookie before but I know I've never shown myself wearing it...I whipped up my tank with some slinky Black and White floral fabric that is nice and cool....Somewhat sheer too; perfect for a very warm day like today....we are almost hitting the 95 degree mark around here....My stroll to the store this afternoon was helped by my top being the way it is....I got the fabric from Hancock's of course quite some time back....this make isn't "new" either and I've worn it at least twice before today....I didn't feel like heels or anything fancy this afternoon; plus me walking to anybodies store just ain't gone' happen! (although Ive done it before hence my conclusion of not doing it again)....paired it with some jeans and Gladiator sandals and off I went....I grabbed some spaghetti stuff and came on back home to make it....In fact I'm writing this post while extremely stuffed with spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad....I know it would be a shame for me to eat any more but that doesn't stop me from wanting to....I'll wait though as there is always plenty of spaghetti left....I always make tons of it; it just happens that way....

Since this was my third time sewing the pattern I have have perfected the fit....the first one was just a wearable muslin in an Orange knit, the second one was better whipped up in a Turquoise stretch lace, and this one in the fabric described earlier in the post.....the arm holes are just right; cool to wear....I opted out of the hemming this time and just serged all the edges...I'll wear it many more times because its just easy to wear....it can be worn like I did today; very casual or dressed up with heels....If I don't have to do any walking maybe the next go 'round will be more chic....Now let me share the photos...I got my Netflix working again so of course I'm watching all my Frasier episodes until its time for bed....I have a project on my sewing table all cut out except for the pockets too...I may or may not mess with it this evening....I'm too full right now that's for sure....I'll just have to let my food digest as my Mama would say.....What have you good folks been up to?...

(I'm including a couple flicks of the first two I made for comparison...the arm holes show the difference)

This is the first time I made it; the wearable muslin I talked about....see how the arm holes are just not all that good?....I sleep in this one now but I still love it...I could have fixed them but I knew I'd sew it again and have a chance to perfect them....I designed the skirt too; no pattern though...just put together for this comfy outfit...and my Cons are to DIE FOR.....

Good evening everybody and how is your "holiday" going?....Mine is cool, my Sweetest and I just came back from Office Max because I needed some stationary and other paper goods....I looked around the other day and almost (I said almost) didn't have any clean paper to chicken scratch on...Now you KNOW I cant have that; like at all....Found some cute stuff and some even cooler letter writing stuff....some of my good folks will be receiving a letter from me in the near future....I'm sorry but this technology mess CAN SO NOT TAKE OVER all the good stuff in life.....I wont let it....
Now this post is about my cool new Star Trek dress I made a while ago...I got the fabric from a local quilt shop across the street from my gig and it was a pretty penny too....I love it and it seemed worth it though because it has Lt. Uhura all over it; her name and all....the reason I call it the "best mistakes I ever made" because the dress is just chock full of 'em....first of all, I cut it out wrong so all the Lt. Uhura's were upside down....now yall know my mind immediately went into creative mode so I used the leftover fabric to fussy cut her out and used an embroidery stitch to cover up the upside down ones with her right side up!...I mean I was named after her for goodness sake! I have to fix her!....then the darts just would not cooperate....I've made countless darts in some of the most delicate of fabrics but this tough quilting cotton just said NO to darts....then I jacked up the zipper....I actually wanted this one invisible because it was nothing special this time; not vintage or anything but it ended up showing anyway....It was uneven at the top too and I left it just like that....I even sewed the sleeves on wrong!(but I used a cool striped, sheer knit I was hoarding for 'em)....
But let me tell yall : I LOVE THIS DRESS, mistakes and all....its the fabric and all of its coolness that made every mistake virtually unnoticeable, well except by me....I got compliments on it too while we were out; probably from fellow Trekkies and other cool, nerdy folks.....its New Look's 0167 View D modified
Hell I'm even watching Star Trek right now!...the Next Generation currently showing....Commander Data, Captain Picard, and Lt. Worf got the screen sewed up (pun intended)...even my hair today resembled Counselor Troi's!....My Mama used to think Commander Riker was handsome and I used to be just too excited to see Commander Geordi La Forge; it was the bee's knees I'm telling you....He was introduced to me way before his debut on the Next Generation through Reading Rainbow though which makes it that much more awesome....I wore my round toe boots to pull off the whole Trekkie look....Nerdy yeah, but the cool factor overrides that!..well IMO wink-wink.....Let me share the piccies now and watch my show...Commander Geordi trying get his mack on right now; and the lady is married!..they had drama too! LOL!...There I go rambling.....;)
Good evening everybody!...I'm up watching Big Bang Theory and talking with my babygirl....the cats are running through here like they always do around this time which usually makes me close my door on 'em...they are very noisy and hyper around this time....but tonight I'm letting 'em run in and out of my room too....they sneak in my sewing room and inspect everything any chance they get; if I see 'em in there though I make 'em leave....I believe my guy cat already stuck himself with a pin or two...I notice he doesn't try to jump up on the sewing counter where they are anymore...poor thing, poor nosy thing...smh....
I got dressed earlier with some of my makes but for some reason I cant find the patterns I used to sew them!....I looked twice for the patterns in my pattern drawers with no luck..now I cant share the pattern numbers...but if I find them I'll make an a quick update....I do know that the top is one of the first patterns I ever bought; its one of those patterns with just one view...I got it from Wal-Mart at least a good 5 years ago...it was one of those 97 cents ones....and the skirt I'm pretty sure is Christine Hayne's circle skirt pattern, but I have quite a few now so I cant say for sure....I do believe its hers though....I made this skirt and top a while back; I just had never worn them before....the skirt I believe had already needed a repair; I didn't sew the band on very well at first so I had to fix that....and the top went with it perfectly although I made it out of boredom one day a few months ago without the skirt in mind....sewing works out like that....
I used a glittery knit fabric for the top....the glittery stuff is hot Pink although it didn't photograph well at all...I swear I need a new camera to show more detail...I'm working on it....the skirt got whipped up out of a kinda stretchy, tie-dye cotton fabric...I got them both from Hancock's, ordered online...You just never know what your going to get unless you order a swatch which is something I never do....any "ugly" fabrics always ends up being something pretty anyway so I just take my chances!...I liked both of these when I got 'em in the mail....
I didn't really feel like taking pictures today either but my Sweetest persuaded me to....I'm glad he did because I told myself I would post more...it was sprinkling today and I just wasn't in the mood...it wasn't all that gloomy though, just a little wet....He snapped a few for me, I came back inside, and went back to sleep....I was tired today; I needed rest which is probably what contributed to my mood earlier and me being up writing right now...I may even sew up a quick top or skirt before I go back to sleep 'cause the sewing bug is definitely biting....I just keep looking at these sweater knits I have in there....Well here are the mystery clothes and I'll show you good people something else in a few....
Evening all; and how are things going?...I'm all right, just been sewing and living....Coupla' snags along the way but such is life right?....Before I go and do a couple loads of laundry I thought I should write about my dress real quick like....
I whipped up Butterick Fashion Express 1 Hour Pattern View B a little while ago....While my Babygirl was home visiting I hurried up and had her take some photos...My Sweetest usually takes them and drives me nutty when he does! LOL!...I love him anyway; but my daughter was my first photographer so I asked her to take a few piccies this go' round....
I have many super cool knit fabrics so I immediately took to my stash and started on my new dress....I used a slinky, knit fabric that I found at Hancock's Fabrics on one of my many trips there...When I saw that fabric I knew it would become something awesome....that's what I do when I get fabric....I never have any true intention on any one specific thing, my fabrics just end up being whatever strikes me at the time....I did get my coat fabric specifically for that project; 'cause I don't usually buy such heavy fabrics unless its denim or something....(see my last post to check out my new coat that is basically too hot to wear here; damn).....
This pattern was true to what it said, it was very fast and easy and I finished it in about an hour and a half....OMG its super comfortable; like a gown that can be worn outside with my boots!...I know I'll be making a couple more....I left the pockets off this one because the fabric didn't seem strong enough for them; like they would have made it sag....the next one may have pockets though if I see fit....View C may be next because it has puff sleeves and I have a fabric in mind already....Well let me share the photos and like always if you want to know more just let me know!
Hiiiiii to to my folks this good Saturday!...Just now getting in from checking on one of my friends that hasn't called me in too long.....She turned out to be just fine; when I showed up she was having a card party...We had a good ole' time....

Now I don't know if you good folks know but I had planned on a big project; which was the Lolita Spearmint coat....I ordered the pattern online and had it for a few days before I just had to cut that flounce out and see what it was all about....the pattern cut out and ready to go was just as awesome at it was sewn up....(I'll show y'all the pattern all cut out too)...then it sat on my sewing table for a couple weeks with me making little progress here and there; like me fixing the pockets and pinning the lining fabric....I have never tried a pattern so extravagant as in doing a lining and so many other details.... I have made a jacket and other warm wear before though.....Maybe one of these Throwback Thursdays I'll repost my makes.....

I can say this coat makes me HAPPY....It could have been better but its done and I made it...Learned a lot too....I was going to try and press it a bit better but I cant do too much heat; its iridescent out the outside...While messing with the seams it left a glittery residue on my iron....I gotta get that off...Mannnn this fabric is just the bee's knees too....I found it at Fabric Mart....I actually didn't know it was shiny like that; but when I opened it I was more than happy to cut into it and make my intended coat...I actually planned on getting this fabric for this particular project...I usually just go to my stash and sew what grabs me at the time... but this coat needed a bit more attention.....I may run it through the dry cycle for a few minutes to relax it more...but I like it now just the way it is...I kinda wanna make it again but Cali weather didn't even really call for this one....Hell I wore a thin, knit top I made out of boredom a while ago with my coat today, and its sleeveless!....I was HOT!....Gotta love Cali weather and I do...I do indeed.....

Well any questions or comments just add 'em here....Piccies now cause Imma get ta' rambling like always! LOL!

Howdy everybody! I'm sitting here with a damn headache and I don't know where it came from...I just woke up with it....I should be all right in a minute though, I took a couple of Bayer's....I just love the weekends even more nowadays because I wear scrubs all week looking horribly frumpy IMO...the weekends allow me to be ME and wear actual clothes....(I hate wearing scrubs; I'd much rather wear business gear)...and this weekend I wore my latest outfit I made....If you wanna know more about it you can check out my last blog post where I ramble about the pattern, fabric, and other stuff....This one is just to show me wearing the 'fit....
I do have a little to say about the outfit though; such as I didn't make the matching fabric belt...I ended up wearing a super cool thrift find I copped-----> an Olive-colored skinny belt I got for $2.00 on one of my thrifting trips....Brand new too...I love thrifting so much and it goes hand in hand with sewing if you ask me...(See how I start to ramble; ain't nobody asked me nothing LOL)
Overall I LOVED wearing the outfit and here it is....Later my good folks! Oh, and I'm feeling better already....aspirin to the rescue!.....
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!...I hope all is well; and I for one am glad all the hoopla is over and done with...I've been sewing of course; matter of fact I sewed right on through the new year with a bottle of wine and awesome fabric....I haven't been taking a lot of photos though as usual...but tonight I finished a new top and its the new year and I haven't blogged in forever and my latest pieces are just too awesome! (sentence just ran with it huh? wink-wink)....
I've been getting super lucky on my trips to Hancock's lately and I have fabrics to show it...I showed off some of my stash on Instagram but I didn't take any for the blog..hell the stash has grown since then and that was a few days ago...I can't stop buying fabric (I don't try that hard, honestly) and it does NOT help that there's always some on "sale"......Check me out of you feel like registering for yet another damn social site; my damn user name is mskrs_stitches....you can give me yours too if you see fit.....well, back to my awesome sauce fabric and my first pieces of 2015....OMG Hancock's is KILLING the knit game right now and I've been snagging as many pieces as I can.....I've loved knits ever since I started sewing...I've heard that many don't like to sew with knits, say they are difficult, or just don't like them much at all..its the total opposite for me...I LOVE them and skipped right over the taboo of sewing with them too....Maybe because the first piece of fabric I bought was a huge piece of heather gray super thin knit fabric...I didn't understand the yardage back then and I believe I asked for 4 yards of it....it wasn't that expensive at all so back then I thought the cost equaled how much I got...My beginner days....
Now let me tell it on the mountain about my two new additions to my wardrobe....I first made a pencil skirt with a bad arse brown knit I grabbed and it is just too good....its very thick; I wonder if its Ponte....I've never seen any Ponte that thick though; but it may very well be that....I decided it would be a pencil skirt and whipped one up with it.....then I rambled through my patterns and fished out one of Simplicity's old school Jiffy patterns; 1364 to be exact and made View A to wear with it.....I didn't make the sash; but I still might 'cause I still have some of the fabric left....and I eliminated the zipper and hook & eye too....I kept the darts though...I just sized up to accommodate for the "spacers" (the hardware)....I saw the pencil skirt outfit idea on Pinterest (yeah, I got one of them too smh)....so much pretty stuff on there though...I really dig Pinterest....
Oh and the fabric I used for the top is called "butter suede" according to my little sewing ladies at the shop....the name sold me and the print was a bonus....I love this top....and it sewed up nicely....
Well let me get back to my sewing room and my Netflix (I'm watching all the Frasier's cracking up!)....just wanted to say HEY and show y'all my stuff....I meant to write on New Year's Day but I had to work...this is my first weekend off of the year and I got something to show for it...What is everybody else whipping up for the new year?....
Heyyyyyy everybody! Long time no write huh?...super bad blogger lady but please forgive me; I've been out of the cyber world for a minute...Sometimes the Internet can be a bit too much you know?...but how I've missed sharing my tidbits though so here I go again....First off, I've been thrifting and SCORING BIG TIME!....Found some awesome pieces of fabric and other vintage notions that I'm just itching to work with....I've already made a dress out of one of the fabrics I found and it just says Mad Men allllll over it...my goal nowadays usually....I didnt take any pictures of my dress with my camera though; I just shared it on my Instagram (just in case you wanna see it)....made a new cape too but I had been hoarding that fabric for a while..go 'head on over there and check 'em out when you get a minute....oh, my Instagram name is mskrs_stitches...I believe that's how you find me or you may be able to just search my name I suppose....I also have a new dress on Belle needing the zipper put in and a hemming....and that leads me to how it may just come out effin' perfect this time.....I just have to use this baby to do it....read on....
Now let me say that I have always liked the older machines; I guess its really no different than the rest of the oldies stuff I like huh?....so of course I've always wanted an "old" sewing machine....Anybody that knows me well KNOWS I can be impulsive...so the other night I took to my local Craig's List in search of a "new" machine I could snag....Lucky me; I damn near instantly found one as soon as I typed in "sewing machine"....I called him right away (it had been listed for 2 months already) and he said it was still available....I made arrangements to grab it from the very next day when I got off work....Make a long story short its here and has taken its rightful place in my sewing space...and I cannot explain how much I love this machine....I have to get some bobbins cause I don't have any to fit....Oh and its a Singer!...It takes Touch and Sew bobbins and I have nothing of the sort....got a bowl full for my other machines but for this one ummm nawwww....I have to go brave the irritations of JoAnn's tomorrow and its get to stitchin' for me.....my new machine does so much and has so many awesome features...the manual is a real book; NOT a pamphlet.....script lettering, buttonholes to write home about, and even monograms!....I totally get why people own more than one machine...they truly all do something different (I now have 3 machines and a serger).....
Well okay I gotta knock this one more work day out for the week so I'm going to get some Zzzzzzz...
Pictures of my handsome new addition now....
